Ways to Give

There are many ways that Friars fans can contribute to Providence College Athletics and become Forever Fund members.

The following is a list of our gift opportunities:

Priority Seating:
Section 170 (1) of the Internal Revenue Code sets values for university ticket priority payments. 20% is allocated to the ticket priority and 80% is a charitable deduction. If other benefits (“amenities”) are covered by the payments, such as tickets, concessions, programs, parking passes, or donor events, the value of these must first be deducted from the payment, and the balance is 80% tax deductible. Based on the number of home games and other factors, the amenities value can vary each year.

Gifts-in-Kind:
Contributions of product, merchandise, equipment, or services are often provided in support of the Athletic Department. These gifts may satisfy priority seating requirements. Gifts-in-kind donations must receive approval from the Friars Forever Athletic Fund and are reviewed on a yearly basis.

Sport Specific:
This is an easy and effective way for Friars Forever Fund Members to channel gifts to specific programs within the Providence College Athletics Department. These gifts enable Providence Athletics to direct monies to critical unbudgeted areas of need.

Estate Gifts:
The Friars Forever Athletic Fund accepts planned gifts through wills and bequests.

Life Income Gifts:
Charitable trusts or gift annuities allow a donor to make a major gift while retaining an income for a fixed period of time or for life.

Gifts of Investment:
Appreciated securities, real property or tangible personal assets are accepted by the Friars Forever Athletic Fund and Providence College.

Payment Options:
Cash or checks are always accepted and will be acknowledged by receipt. Checks should be made payable to the Friars Forever Fund. Credit Card (Visa, MasterCard or American Express) donations are also an acceptable and easy method of payment.

Gifts of Real Property and Securities:
Gifts of real property and securities are acceptable and may provide some tax advantages for you as a donor. Consult with your tax advisor.

Matching Gifts:
Many corporations participate in matching gifts of their employees. Some double or even triple each dollar contributed. Please ask your Human Resource Department for details regarding your company matching gift program.

* If you intend to use your company’s matching gift program to match your seat licensing contribution, only the tax deductible portion of your gift is available for matching, per IRS regulations.

Tax Information:
Under applicable provisions of the Internal Revenue Code (IRC), the amount of a contribution that is deductible for federal income tax purposes is limited to the excess of the amount contributed over the value of any goods or services provided by the donor by the College. In addition, any amount of the donors’ donation that results in priority event seating is 80% tax deductible. All other contributions are 100% tax deductible unless otherwise specified by IRS regulations.
