Friar 5k



In an average 5K race, participants take 6,200 steps toward their goal — the finish line. In the Friar 5K, every step you take will help the PC Fund reach its goal  providing an even more transformative experience for the entire Providence College community.




Register today for the Friar 5k, a chance to walk or run in support of the PC Fund.  Our 3.1-mile USA Track & Field-sanctioned course will lead you through the PC campus and surrounding Elmhurst neighborhood - beginning and ending at Providence College's Harkins Hall.

Faculty and staff are encouraged to form a team (minimum of 4 to a team) and participate in the Friar 5K. Please click here for more information on faculty/staff registration.

After the race, participants and their families are encouraged to stay on campus to attend the College's annual Friar Fanfest on Slavin Lawn, sponsored by the Office of Alumni Relations and the Department of Athletics. Highlights include race awards, entertainment, activities, refreshments, and fun for the whole family.

Providence College, Slavin Lawn and Slavin Center Atrium 8:00 - 9:30 a.m.

Registration packets including t-shirt, bib number and timing chip.

10:00 a.m. shotgun start, will kick-off the race at Harkins Hall.

Friar Fanfest:
Immediately following the race, all participants and their families are encouraged to attend our Fanfest (co-sponsored with Athletics) on Slavin Center lawn. Activities will include fun and games for the whole family as well as a Farmer's Market, live band and snacks. Awards will be given out to participants at this celebration.

You won't want to miss the annual Mal Brown intrasquad scrimmage with the 2012–13 men’s basketball team led by Head Coach Ed Cooley at noon.
    
Race Information
Race Categories
18 & under, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & over
Awards will be given to the top three runners in each age category (male and female) and also to the overall male and female winner. 
Note: All race participants will compete within their age category.

Please Note:
*Children aged 12 and under are allowed on the course for free, but will not receive a t-shirt or timing chip. Children aged 12 - 18 are asked to pay the student fee $18 and will receive both a shirt and timing chip.

Participants with strollers are welcome to participate in the race. On race day, these participants will be directed to the back of the starting line.

All applicants must sign a waiver to participate in this event.
