In the 2010-2011 academic year over
350 endowed scholarship funds benefitted nearly 600 PC students.
Funding dedicated for student
financial aid will help PC compete with programs that have greater financial
resources — helping to attract not only talented lower-income students from all
socio-economic backgrounds, but increasingly, students from middle income
families who are challenged to pay for private higher education.
By providing more scholarship and
grant assistance, PC can relieve students—and their families—of some of the
onerous burden of debt faced upon graduation.
This would also give graduates an opportunity to better establish
themselves financially and ultimately to give back to Providence College
themselves.
Named endowed scholarship funds may
be established with a minimum gift of $50,000. Scholarship designation may be
based on financial need, disciplinary area such as accounting, finance,
marketing, and management or other criteria.
