A foundation in the humanities gives students a marked advantage, and your leadership allows Providence College to make that foundation stronger, deeper, and more enduring. To express our gratitude, we invite you to celebrate the humanities — the cornerstone of a PC education — during St. Dominic Weekend.

Join us for Saturday’s signature event, the dedication of the Ruane Center for the Humanities at noon, followed by a keynote address by Pulitzer Prize-winning author and historian David McCullough. A leading chronicler of the American experience for nearly 50 years, McCullough has been widely acclaimed as a “master of the art of narrative history,” “a matchless writer.”  He is twice winner of the Pulitzer Prize, twice winner of the National Book Award, and has received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian award.

The celebration will feature a building dedication and blessing, along with presentation of the College’s highest honor – the Veritas Medal – to Michael A. Ruane ’71, the exemplary benefactor whose generosity and leadership have made possible both the new building and the College’s steady march toward its aspirational goals. The Ruanes’ philanthropy is legendary at the College. The Ruane Atrium at Concannon Fitness Center and the Michael A. Ruane Endowed Chair for Innovation in Business Education also bear their name. Members of the St. Dominic Society will enjoy preferred seating during the ceremony.

Additional highlights include Ruane Center tours, panel discussions with faculty and alumni thought leaders, and a closing Mass at 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

All events are compliments of Providence College.
