Friar 5k





In an average 5k race, participants take 6,200 steps toward their goal — the finish line. In the Friar 5k, every step you take will help the National Alumni Association Scholarship Fund reach its goal  providing an even more transformative experience for Providence College students.

Register today for the 4th annual Friar 5k, a chance to walk or run in support of the National Alumni Association Scholarship.  Our 3.1-mile USA Track & Field-sanctioned course will lead you through the transformed PC campus and surrounding Elmhurst neighborhood - beginning and ending at Providence College's Harkins Hall.

Faculty, staff, alumni and students are encouraged to form a team and participate in the Friar 5K. Participants can start and join teams on the online registration page. Additional information on team awards and faculty/staff benefits will be provided soon.

After the race, participants and their families are encouraged to stay on campus to attend the College's annual Friar Fanfest on Slavin Lawn, sponsored by the Office of Alumni Relations and the Department of Athletics. Highlights include race awards, entertainment, activities, refreshments, and fun for the whole family.

Pre-registration fee:
PC students and under 18 - $18.00
Alumni, faculty and staff, parent, and the general public - $25.00

Friday/Race Day registration fee:
PC students and under 18 - $20.00
Alumni, faculty and staff, parent, and the general public - $30.00

*Please be aware that a small service fee will be added on to the final price of registration.

Registration packets including t-shirt, bib number and timing chip.

10:00 a.m. shotgun start, will kick-off the race at Harkins Hall.

Race Information
Race Categories
18 & under, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & over
Awards will be given to the top 3 runners in each age category (male and female) and also to the overall male and female winner.
Note: All race participants will compete within their age category.

Kids' Races
This year, children can participate in fun runs during the Fan Fest on the new track and field complex adjacent to Slavin Hall. Events include the 100-meter dash (ages 4 and under), 200-meter dash (ages 5 – 7), and 400-meter dash (age 8 and up). Registration will be held on race day.

Friar Fan Fest and Post-Race Reception
After the race, participants and their families are encouraged to stay on campus to attend the College's annual Friar Fan Fest sponsored by the Office of Alumni Relations and the Department of Athletics. Highlights include race awards, local food trucks, inflatables, mini-golf, and live entertainment. A post-race party beginning at 1 p.m. in McPhail’s will feature live music and a cash bar.
   

Please Note:

*Children aged 12 and under are allowed on the course for free, but will not receive a t-shirt or timing chip. Children aged 12-18 are asked to pay the student pre-registration fee $18, or race day fee $20, and will receive both a shirt and timing chip.

Participants with strollers are welcome to participate in the race. On race day, these participants will be directed to the back of the starting line.

All applicants must sign a waiver to participate in this event.
