Two Grads Named to 40 Under Forty List

Providence College alumni Stephen R. Ucci '93 and Susan B. Henrikson '98 were named to the 2011 Providence Business News (PBN) 40 Under Forty list, which recognizes young professionals in Rhode Island for their dedication to making a difference in their career and the community.

PBN annually selects a group of 40 men and women under the age of 40 who have flourished professionally and personally. The winners for 2011 were chosen from more than 115 nominees from the business, healthcare, and law sectors.

Ucci has established professional success with the Raytheon Company as the general counsel for the Seapower Capability System division located in Portsmouth, R.I.
As an attorney, he manages the legal affairs for the business area of integrated defense systems, dealing with the advancement of surface and undersea warfare technologies.

In addition to his work at Raytheon, Ucci serves as a R.I. state legislator. A member of the House of Representatives, he is the House deputy majority leader, vice chair of the House Oversight Committee, and a member of the House Labor Committee and Joint Defense Economy Planning Commission.

"It's nice to be recognized and showcased as a testament to PC being a reason why I have achieved such success," said Ucci, who was a business administration major and a political science minor.

Ucci praised the combination of practical business courses and interdisciplinary liberal arts courses that he took at the College for providing a foundation for his work in the corporate world.

"I found that the liberal arts helped me understand diversity and culture in a global market," explained Ucci.

Henrikson shares the honor of being named to the 40 Under Forty list because of a thriving career at UnitedHealthcare of New England as account vice president of public sector business.
Henrikson, a health policy and management major at PC, works with her team and clients to develop customized health programs for state, municipal, and union accounts. Under her leadership, the team has helped develop award-winning health and wellness programs recognized by the Wellness Council of America and the State of Rhode Island.

Henrikson's career has grown significantly in 11 years at UnitedHealthcare. She began her path to success after being recruited in 2003 from another division at UnitedHealthcare by Patrick J. O'Brien '83, regional vice president of sales for public sector and labor & trust.

She has worked her way up the corporate ladder with UnitedHealthcare, advancing from a service consultant position to her current position as an account vice president.

"I feel honored and privileged to work in a field and at a company that is having a positive impact on people's lives. It is a wonderful feeling when someone sends me a letter or reaches out to thank me and let me know that a wellness program or health initiative that I worked on helped to save their life," said Henrikson. "I also have had the opportunity to work with some amazing individuals who have served as mentors to me throughout my career including Patrick O'Brien '83. My reward comes everyday through my work, clients, and colleagues but I am humbled and honored to be recognized by the Providence Business News team."

Henrikson also is engaged in the community, serving as a volunteer board member for the Warwick Boys & Girls Club, as a volunteer for March of Dimes, and as a mentor for Power Lunch, an elementary school reading series during lunch hour.

"My major at PC is something that I pursued a career in, but I also think that Civ [the DWC program] has made me well-rounded," Henrikson said. She credits her career success to the support of her team at UnitedHealthcare and the education she received at the College, especially her major concentration courses.

Ucci, Henrikson, and the other 40 Under Forty honorees were recognized at a reception at the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport.
