The
Reverend Philip A. Smith, O.P. Award recognizes an alumnus or alumna,
parent, student, friend or member of the faculty or staff whose
contributions have made a significant impact in furthering the Mission
of Providence College. This honor is presented to an individual whose
personal and professional life embodies the enthusiasm and spirit of
Father Smith and whose service significantly promotes the Mission of
the College.
A
Committee, chaired by Robert Ferreira, Assistant Vice President for
Alumni Relations, is charged with making a recommendation to College
President Rev. Brian J. Shanley, O.P. ’80 for the 2010 recipient of the
award. This year, the award will be presented during St. Dominic
Weekend in October.
Nominations should be submitted to the Committee, in care of Robert Ferreira, no later than August 20, 2010. Click here to access the nomination guidelines.
The
Reverend Philip A. Smith, O.P. Award is the generous gift of Paul and
Michele Hoffmann '02P & '06P and is established in honor of Father
Smith, the eleventh president of Providence College. It is the hope of
the Hoffmanns that this honor will recognize those individuals, like
Father Smith, who have graciously devoted their energy, loyalty, and
service to promote the influence and prestige of the College.
