The “New Normal”

A fruity summer twist on the classic Old Fashioned.

  • 1 tablespoon of simple syrup (use agave, pure maple syrup, or honey as substitute)
  • 5 dashes of bitters
  • 2 peach slices (fresh or frozen)
  • 2.5 ounces of Bourbon (Maker’s does the trick)
  • 2 blackberries
  • Splash of sparkling water
  1. In an old-fashioned glass (or any glass you have), combine the simple syrup, bitters, and one peach slice. Muddle well to mix the ingredients and mash the fruit to add juice. If you do not have a muddle, wooden spoon could works just fine.
  2. Add the bourbon & ice cubes
  3. Finish with second slice of peach, the blackberries, and sparkling water. Stir to combine.
  4. Cheers!

Substitution notes: agave, pure maple syrup, or honey can be used a substitute for simple syrup. Angostura bitters are best but orange bitters, or any citrus peel can be used to substitute for bitters.
